Teamer: the return
Thank you for all the expressions of interest in junior small group nets and practice. We are developing the programme on a week-by-week basis as circumstances evolve.
This week we will be running centrally organised net sessions – so no need to book – but we will be inviting all potential participants by Teamer in age groups – U16, U13 and U12.
Please respond as soon as possible if your child is available. We will then invite a group selected for each session from those available.
These are hardball cricket nets and so only children with hardball cricket experience will be invited. We hope to extend to small group practice for others as soon as circumstances allow.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT SELECTED AND DOES NOT RECEIVE TEAMER SELECTION INVITE
You must also be familiar with the requirements for small group practice under Covid-19 conditions set out here: https://staplehurstcricketandtennis.teamapp.com/articles/4675230-cricket-net-booking-and-conditions-updated-wef-june-8

Parents will be aware that we are currently overseeing junior net sessions on Sunday mornings between 10.00 and 12 noon.
Following recent further easing of lockdown guidelines, we can now contemplate running small group coaching sessions under tightly controlled conditions.
We are exploring how we can run these sessions alongside nets but we need to try and gauge the likely demand. To start with, this will involve ages 9-16.
So, initially, can you please email john.swannick@staplehurstcricket.com, or post a comment here, if you would like your child to join the nets sessions. We will then endeavour to place them in a relevant age/capability group for one of the 45 minute slots on Sunday morning.

IMPORTANT UPDATE**********
Tennis court users should be aware from the update last week that doubles tennis is now possible but, to exclude the possibility of more than 6 people being in the court space at any one time, those intending to play doubles need to book out both courts.
However, please note thet we have discovered an issue on the court booking system with booking both courts at the same time in the same booking. Although confirmations are being generated showing both courts are booked, the system is actually booking one court for two hours!
PLEASE NOTE You need to book the courts separately in successive bookings.
We are seeking to resolve this issue as soon as possible but, in the meantime, all existing two court bookings have been manually protected to ensure no further bookings can be made at the same time. So those who have already booked DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING
However, with effect from 18:00 on 8 June, doubles players booking courts must ensure they have booked both courts – 1 and 2 – individually and receive two separate booking confirmations.
Doubles players should also note that there are specific LTA play conditions for doubles tennis and you MUST be familiar with them as a condition of booking. There is a copy of the latest LTA play conditions under Documents on the App.
All other latest court booking conditions remain the same and you can see them here https://staplehurstcricketandtennis.teamapp.com/articles/4670883-revised-tennis-court-booking-conditions-june-4

Following latest guidance from the England & Wales Cricket Board, yesterday, we have revised the conditions for cricket nets bookings effective from MONDAY JUNE 8.
Existing bookings remain unaffected and can be amended to accommodate the new conditions.
The main changes are to the maximum number of people allowed in each session and the permitted length of sessions depending on numbers participating.
No use of the ground or nets is permitted outside of the designated times for booking which are:
– Tuesdays and Thursdays – 4.00pm to 8.00pm – for adults (age 18+)
– Sundays – 09.45 to 12 noon – for juniors (ages 9-18)
NO USE OF THE FACILITIES IS ALLOWED WITHOUT BOOKING. Bookings can be made here https://bit.ly/2zrXDlp upto 6 days in advance for each session.
The member booking will be responsible for the conduct of their session and ensuring other users – a maximum of FIVE other people in adult sessions and THREE other 9-18 year olds in junior sessions – are aware of and observe the conditions. The booker MUST also ensure the booking is updated and all the names of the participants are listed at the time the session takes place.
Adult (18+) sessions are:
– 45 minutes (plus 15 mins buffer time to allow appropriate cleaning time and to avoid contact with subsequent users) for 2-3 people
– 1 hour 45 minutes (plus 15 mins buffer time) for 4-6 people
Junior (ages 9-18) sessions are:
– 30 minutes (plus 15 mins buffer time) for 2 people
– 45 minutes (plus 15 mins buffer time) for 3-4 people
Only one booking per member is allowed on any given day.
There are limited sessions available. So if you cannot make your booked session please cancel; cancellations accepted upto one hour before session so keep an eye out for late booking opportunities. If there are no sessions available on a day you wish to book, you might contact the booker of a session under maximum capacity (it is visible on the booking system) to see if they can accommodate you – YOU CANNOT JUST TURN UP AND JOIN IN.
The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) conditions have been supplemented by additional Club requirements and users will be required to accept these conditions on booking. Each session will be distance supervised by a member of the Cricket Committee to ensure compliance – you MUST adhere to their guidance.
In short, those conditions are:
– REMAIN ALERT
– Do not attend if you or anyone in your household displays symptoms or your household is currently in isolation (full details at the beginning of this document)
– Personal hygiene measures should be carried out at home before and after use of the facility
– The Clubhouse and toilets are closed and out of bounds; make sure you go to the toilet before leaving home
– Bring your own hand sanitiser where possible. If this isn’t possible wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after visiting the club
– Bring your own filled drinking bottles
– Try not to arrive too early, aim to arrive at the start of your slot to help with social distancing
– Avoid walking or putting bags on the square and use only the designated wicket. NO OTHER ACTIVITY is to take place on the square
– Bring your own playing/training equipment especially balls (some added identification a good idea)
– Batters are to avoid contact with the ball and use bat and feet to return ball to bowler
– Cricket gloved hands are not exempt – they, especially leather, are a good home for the virus.
– Avoid touching as much as possible whilst on club premises
– Try to ensure social distancing is practised wherever possible
– No bowling machines are to be used
– Do not leave private property behind
– No spitting
– No saliva or sweat should come into contact with the ball at any time
– Wear appropriate equipment. The wearing of helmets by batters is compulsory to minimise risk of ball contact with face
– A First Aid kit will be available on the ground
– Do not overstay your allocated time slot, you should be clear of the area by the time the next users arrive
– The less bodily contact with facilities, the less cleaning you will need to do at the end of your session!
– Leave the Club site immediately after your session; do not stay to socialise or loiter in the car park
– Users in each final session are required to push the net cage off the square to the edge of the outfield and clean where they may have touched
In addition, for junior cricketers (ages 9-18)
– Bookings must be made by a parent/guardian
– They are responsible for arranging other participants
– At least one parent/guardian must be present on the Ground for those aged 13 and under
– UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES is an adult (age 18+) to practise with a child under age 14
– The supervising committee member will have appropriate coaching and safeguarding qualifications including current DBS
– Parents should avoid too large a gap between the age/capability of the intended participants to avoid the disappointment of being disbarred from activity by the supervising coach
The full ECB conditions can be found under Documents on the App.
A summary is shown in the infographic image on this article. Versions will be available at the Club.
These arrangements and conditions are subject to continuous review by the Cricket Committee and Club Executive. Further opportunities may be arranged once operation has been reviewed and demand warrants. Please bear in mind the Cricket Committee supervisors are volunteering their own time for your benefit! Poor compliance may lead to all sessions being suspended so please observe the conditions for the benefit of all.
PLEASE REMEMBER: the Club is closed for all activity except authorised tennis court and cricket practice BOOKINGS only. Strictly no cricket practice is permitted outside the approved sessions. In addition to wear and tear on the ground, affecting play conditions when we do get back to cricket, it potentially puts the health & safety of our groundsman at risk.
BUT ABOVE ALL IT IS BREAKING THE LAW: we could be subject to inspection by the local authorities and non-compliance lead to prosecution of the Club and/or individual transgressor(s) with a maximum fine of £3,000!
And finally, we are ALL responsible for ensuring compliance with conditions as we are with the Club Code of Conduct in normal times.
Any queries or issues can be raised on the COVID-19 Cricket chatroom on the App under Chat
