Cricket World Cup Family Day

The Club is hosting its Cricket World Cup Family Day this Sunday, June 30.

Sponsored by the England & Wales Cricket Board, the highlight of the day will be the annual U13/U16 Sixes tournament starting at 2.00pm. This is an all action, thrills and spills, format which we expect to finish around 6.00pm.

But it is also the day of England’s crucial World Cup game against India – one they must win to progress in the tournament – and this will be on the big screen from 10.30am.

Junior training – including All Stars Cricket – will take place as normal from 9.30am and we would like to encourage those not playing in the tournament to stay on and watch some of the action, whether on the big screen or out on the ground.

The kitchen will be open as usual for coffee and breakfast from 9.30am and we will be firing up the BBQ at lunchtime. The bar is open throughout the day from 12 noon.

We also hope that family members will take the opportunity, if they haven’t already, to play some tennis on the new courts through the day.

So come down and support the boys, whether that’s England, Staplehurst’s budding talent……or even India.

Our 1st XI are playing High Halstow at Staplehurst and looking to get back to winning ways after last week’s blip.

Unfortunately, the 2nd XI game has been conceded by opponents Holcombe & Bluebell Hill as they cannot raise a team.

Play starts at the Club at 12.30pm and you can keep uptodate with progress in the game on Live Scores on the Club App.

The bar at the Club is open from 3.00 pm.

We are grateful to Chris Rogers for sponsoring today’s match ball. And to Sophie Valentine for providing today’s teas.

Request For Proposals

The Club has now received planning permission from Maidstone Borough Council for a substantial extension to, and full refurbishment of, our existing Clubhouse. It will involve an approximate doubling of the usable floorspace, new bar and kitchen facilities and much improved changing and showering provision.

This is a significant milestone in our ambitious development plans, enabling us to progress our immediate objective of moving towards viably opening the Club seven-days-a-week in support of our sporting activities.

We will shortly confirm a building schedule with the intention of having the new facilities open and fully operational in the second quarter of 2020. Our plans will be presented to a meeting for members in September.

WE ARE NOW SEEKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FROM INDIVIDUALS, ORGANISATIONS AND BUSINESSES WHO CAN WORK WITH US TO HELP DELIVER OUR OBJECTIVE. In particular, we would like to hear from potential partners who can support increased overall revenue generation while meeting our Club priorities:
1. working with and around existing sporting activity, especially cricket and tennis;
2. driving significantly increased bar turnover;
3. adding value and an improved experience for nearly 500 current members;
4. helping attract and retain additional members from the 5-7,000 existing annual users and potential users of the site.

Those partnerships may include, but are not limited to:
• catering;
• social and business activities and events;
• other sporting and recreational activities and events.

Our timetable:
• Interested parties are asked to submit an outline proposal by Wednesday 17 July.
• Shortlisted applicants will be notified in early August and invited to submit a full business proposal by 30 September 2019.
• We expect to make a final decision on potential partners by 1 November 2019.
• Potential partners will be invited to participate in subsequent building development planning.
• We anticipate finalising full partnership agreements by 31 December 2019.
