A huge thank you to Club main sponsors, I Wallond Fencing and Homeleigh, who stepped in after the recent storm damage to donate their time, expertise and materials to replace a section of the boundary fence ahead of this weekend’s start to the season.
Now we have space for a few new sponsors’ banners, we can announce that our existing main sponsors are being joined by Russell Gormley’s Kitchen of Kent and Wilmoths Maidstone, Kent’s premier Citroen dealership.
You will hear more about these tie-ups shortly and news on further sponsorships in due course.

The first matches of the season are on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April. The latter is a 1.00pm start so plenty of time to attend church and/or fill up on Easter eggs.
Players will already be aware of these dates as the Teamer invites have been out for some weeks.
But for every pleasure there is an obligation which brings us to pre-season preparation. As there are no freebie t-shirts this year, we are not calling it NatWest CricketForce but, as discussed at the recent Club Cricket Forum, THIS weekend is pre-season preparation weekend.
It is being co-ordinated by Tom Henson so please email Tom NOW on cricket@staplehurstcricket.com – or leave a comment here – to let him know what time you can commit.
There are four slots to choose from (although two slots each would be even better):
– Saturday 11.00am – 1.00 pm
– Saturday 2.00 pm – 4.00pm
– Sunday 11.00 am – 1.00 pm
– Sunday 2.00pm – 4.00pm
The skip(s) is on order so let’s see how long it/they take to fill.
The Farmers’ Market will be on that morning so the Saturday lunchtime menu may include a sausage roll or the fabulous Kashmiri Curry.
Those with children may prefer to kill two birds with one stone and commit to the early Sunday slot while the boss is registering the kids for junior cricket.
Please don’t let Tom have to chase you as you know what he’s like when he gets annoyed!!

Folks
This time of the year is the most critical for recruitment, not least of juniors.
We have just run two campaigns for All Stars Cricket and Swallows & Amazons programmes which reached an incredible 8,000 local people of parent age using paid-for advertising on Facebook.
But the most powerful recruitment approach is still ‘word of mouth’. By a long chalk. Now ‘word of mouth’ is far more powerful thanks to social media.
We have recently seen the power of a Facebook campaign driven by hundreds of committed and enthusiastic – indeed passionate – supporters in relation to the Farmers’ Market.
Now I am asking for your support in a little experiment to see if we can drive that sort of engagement for our junior programmes.
If you are on Facebook, please go to the newly set up All Stars Cricket at Staplehurst Cricket & Tennis Club and Swallows & Amazons at Staplehurst Cricket & Tennis Club pages. You can use the links below.
If you use a PC or laptop or the browser on your tablet, the Facebook pages should look like the image above. It will look different on your phone depending what make and whether it’s Android or IoS.
But you should be able to:
– ‘Like’ the pages.
– ‘Follow’ to receive automatic updates.
– ‘Share’ it to your timeline and to any local Facebook groups you belong to (although all the obvious community ones have been done!)
But above all, ‘Invite Friends’. All of them. Or at least the local ones.
Help spread the word and generate traffic which in turn will generate more. If we could get 100 people to do all or some of these things, the pages will reach thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of people, with the personal endorsement of someone they know. You. How powerful is that?
